Denver / Vikings / Cowboys / Ravens

Is Eddie Lacy going in round 1?  If STL does not take him trent may begin the chop licking again as the bengals have an early second round pick.

I think right now by far the worst value was EJ Manuel.  No one that has picked since Buff. was even thinking QB.  We will never know but I wonder if they could have nabbed him in round 2.

Broncos

Sylvester Williams

UNC's d-lineman coach deserves a raise.

Patriots trading down getting more picks.  This is what they do.

Vikings coming up to find Percy replacement..

Vikings

Cordarrelle Patterson

Well they gave up a lot for this guy and I don't know if its worth it.  Greg Jennings and Cordarrelle Patterson sounds better to be than Percy Harvin and Michael Jenkins.  They did a good job replacing Harvin.

Geno has left the building.  I actually am starting to feel bad for him.  If Eddie Lacy doesnt get picked by the Rams he can go ahead and room with him tonight.

STL

Alec Ogletree

So who is starting RB for the Rams this year?

Cowboys

Travis Frederick

Maybe his ass will rub some luck onto Tony Romo's hands.

Ravens

Matt Elam

The Ed Reed replacement.  Nice film on this guy.

Recap:
- Although the Jets had 2 first round picks I think they did an awful job filling needs.  They have zero on offense right now.  This will be Rex Ryan's swan song.

- 6 of the first 11 picks being offensive lineman left much to be desired on the entertainment front.

- I like what the Rams did tonight.  I really don't think Tavon Austin is going to be a week in week out producer but he will def make some highlight plays this year and give that offense some pop.  Getting Ogletree late was a good add for the defense.

- No Rb's taken in round 1.
Lets take a look at some of the top dogs in the league right now
Arian Foster - undrafted
Ray Rice - 3rd round
MJD - 2nd round
Alferd Morris  - 7th round
Jamaal Charles - 2nd round
Matt Forte - 2nd round

Ill end this by a quote from trent: "the only thing sweeter than getting Eddie Lacey in round 1 is getting him in round 2."

Colts / Vikings / Packers / Texans

 Colts

Bjoern Werner

Just when I thought this first round couldn't become any more less entertaining Bjoern Werner gets selected at 24.  I have heard of this guy but if I was a colt fan I would not be too thrilled with this one.

Vikings back on the clock.

Big game Bob Holtzman reporting that Vikings feel like a kid in a candy store.  My early prediction is they will be naming the Vikings as the Day 1 winners.

Xavier Rhodes

Apparently this man's nickname is the deputy.

Berman - "First they got the Sheriff and now they got the Deputy"  Typical corny Berman.

Packers coming up on the clock

This could be an Eddie Lacy spot...or not

Datone Jones

At the end of the day they really do need defense but man Eddie Lacy in could have done some damage in that offense.  I do have a theory on RBs being a dime a dozen (aside from the Adrian Peterson's of the world)

Houston
My thought is WR here but I am on about an 0-5 on my last 5 predictions.

Well the Geno Smith having to go back to his hotel and sleep undrafted thought I had an hour ago is looking very real now.  I cannot see Den NE STL or Balt going that direction.  Jax leading off the second round seems like the next possible landing spot.

DeAndre Hopkins

Finally got one.  This is a good looking player and may finally be the counterpart to Andre Johnson.

Bengals / Falcons / Vikings

Trent licking his chops for Eddie Lacy.

Geno Smith is becoming ill.

Bengals
Tyler Eifert

This pick makes sense.  Dalton needs another weapon and Eifert might give AJ Green some breathing room.

Trent - Eifert/Gresham is the poor mans Gronk/Hernandez

Bengals are def trending up though.  The only problem is the red rifle is the kind of QB that can get you the playoffs as he has proven but at the end of the day he is never going to be wearing any jewelery.

Look for Bengals to take a safety in round 2 and now trent turns his hopes to geovani bernard for a RB.

Falcons trading up

Desmond Trufant

Falcons were 1 game away from SB so this is already a good team that is close.  Adding SJax was an upgrade as is Trufant to the defensive backfield

Vikings

Sharrif Floyd

Rising up from the swamp.  He is now part 2 of the Williams Wall.  Not sure why this guy dropped so much.

49ers / Giants / Bears

49ers trade up to get Eric Reid.

Turk - Harbaugh best coach in the league so if he is willing to trade up and get him that is all he needs to know.

49ers are going to be damn good this year.  Secondary seemed to be their only weakness and that has now been addressed.

Giants
Justin Pugh - The definition of unsexy.

This first round has left a lot to be desired as far as excitement goes.  We need some spice in these final  13 picks.

Bears
Of all the coaches that got axed on Black Monday Lovie Smith seemed the most unjust.  Although they did collapse down the stretch I think he is a decent coach and will catch on somewhere for sure.

Starting to hear some Teo talk.  If they think he is going to replace Urlacher they are going to be in for a disappointment.  Speaking of Urlacher someone needs to pick him up.

Kyle Long G Oregon

Did not see this one coming at all.  I really think they should have went tight end.  They need another weapon.  Cutler dropping back and throwing to Marshall every play isnt going to cut it

Saints / Bills / Steelers

Saints

Kenny Vaccaro

Defense makes sense for this team just like offense made sense for the jets.  One team did the right thing one team did the wrong thing.

Trent - Likes Vaccaro was his second choice for bengal nation.

Bills

This might be Geno's shot.  If he doesn't go here round 2 becomes a real possibility.

Turk - Although an admitted EJ Manuel hater does not hate this pick.  He thinks with some coaching this guy could be something now that he is away from fraud-fisher.

Trent - Exact opposite of Turk actually likes EJ but doesn't like the spot.

I don't like the spot either.  I cant imagine any teams in the next 10-15 picks were looking at EJ Manuel and they could have easily traded back up and got him late first early second.  With that said I do think he will make a better pro than Geno Smith.

Steelers
Chad called this one and likes it.

Jets / Panthers

Jets

Sheldon Richardson

Turk - Well good thing Rex Ryan talked the GM into defensive players.  How are they going to score?  Sanchez sucks and who is going to throw too?

Chad - Kurley

Trent - 4 win team.

Man this is going to be a bad offensive team.  Their defense really wasn't the issue this year.  I don't think Geno was the answer there but that is the consensus worst pick of the draft so far.

Panthers
Star Lotulelei

This is my up and coming team for this year.  This guy would have been a top 5 pick but had some heart problems so this is good value.

That baby got Star's hands and his wife's eye-brows.

Geno Smith is starting to get some sweat on his brow.  He might have to make the voyage back to the hotel and comeback for round 2 tomorrow.

Titans / Chargers / Raiders

Titans
Chance Warmack
-5 o lineman in the top 10 is boring.  The only thing I know about this guy is that he wore a belly shirt while he played.

Nice hug but still not 22 seconds.

Saban just breeds first round draft picks.  Chris Johnson needs all the help he can get.  Maybe he can average 4.0 ypc this year.

Chargers

Another Bama player.  Another tackle.  6 out of 11.
Must be tough being AJ McCarron.  Has 2 of the best 6 offensive lineman in the nation blocking for him and dating Miss Alabama.  Good for him.

Raiders back on the clock.

Time for Hal Davis to get back on the phone.

I am ready for some skill position players to start coming off the board.... oh no they took they phone away from Hal Davis.

Hal Davis - "JAMARCUS RUSSELL!! He is available!! And give me my damn phone back!!"

Well DJ Hayden runs fast so Al's message must have got through to someone.  A good story though that a guy survived a 95% fatal situation and made it.

Rams / Jets

It seems like a lock that the rams are taking tavon austin.  That will be a good fit.  He could def do some damage on that carpet.  With that said there is a lot of debate on this pick.

Chad  - How many 5'8 175 dominate or for that matter even successful in the NFL - 0

Trent - Making his debut comment says Tavon Austin is the equivalent to Dexter McCluster.

With all that said he will make some plays and they needed a weapon so it makes sense.

Jets
Trading Revis it would make sense to see Milliner here.  Although they need a QB too.

While on the topic of QB Trent Turk and myself completely agree that Geno Smith is going to be a bust.

Group consensus is: that this pick made sense.

Seeing these Bama highlights reminds me of how bad Saban drops his drawers on opponents especially given time to prepare (michigan week 1 / national championship)  I know they have johnny football on the schedule early in the year next year.  I will be looking forward to putting my $ behind Saban.

Browns / Cards

This is the up and comer in Turks eye.  He thinks the browns are a team on the rise.

Well we weren't far off on the Mingo pick.  Turk says Cleveland is playoff bound in 2014 and will be taking the over for team wins this coming year.

The only person who liked this pick more than Turk is this guy.

Cardinals
I am predicting this to be a big time hug if they select Cooper...damn not 22 seconds though.

I like the looks of this guy's tape.

Rams trading up this might be Tavon Time...

Eagles / Lions

Another tackle Lane Johnson to the Eagles.

Must be some WWE fans there getting the "WHAT" going.

Once again not a lot of excitement with this pick.  Boring but necessary.

Lions

Someone in this war room is definitely thinking WR after the binge they went on in the early 2003 - 2005 taking
Charles Rodgers
Roy Williams
Mike Williams

Ahhh the Millen years.

Good to see Barry Sanders.

Ezekiel Ansah

Turk - Would have rather seen Barkevious Mango in this spot.
Chad -Ansah isn't even the best pass rusher on his team.  Him and Turk are both Van Noy fans.
Trent - Recalibrating who the Bengals will be taking (fingers crossed for Eddie Lacy)

Jags Pick / Raiders Pick / Trade

Tough to get excited over a couple of tackles being selected.  These hugs so far have not been living up to the billing.

Trent  is dubbing Luke Joeckel as the next Tony Boselli.  Now they just need to acquire Tebow and they will be set.

The jerseys are an upgrade.

 --------

Raiders pick.

Al Davis phoning in from grave that he wants Goodwin from Texas.

Good to see Al's brother Hal Davis working the phone.

I would say the first problem with this franchise is that you might want to have someone younger than 100 working the phones.

Turk : Chip Kelly got out of the kitchen at the right time.  He is going on record saying Dion Jordon will make a handful of pro-bowls.  The only confusion he had on this pick was whether it was his mother or father that was there with him.

Trent: Declines comment until Bengals pick.

NFL Network

I personally prefer NFL Network coverage.  Rich Eisen > Berman unless we are playing a sound effect game.  Also having Michael Irvin on set is bound to make good comedy.  I also like that NFL Network doesn't tip the picks as much as ESPN.

Does Andy Reid have a Hawaiian shirt on?

To quote the great Homer Simpson.

No opinion on Fisher pick.  I said in an earlier blog that I said I would be on the over if the Chiefs win total was 6.  This team isn't far off from being a contender and this won't hurt.

War Room

I am watching the draft at my brothers house.   My wife and I moved into our new house and we have yet to get Direct Tv set up.  Joining me in the war room is my brother trent (resident bengals blogger) turk (resident geno smith and ej manuel hater - not racist) and chad kiper.

- Good to hear Roger Goodell getting booed.

-Smart move by his writers to have him talk about the tragedies last week.  Can't boo a man when he is talking about that.

- Joe Namath is drunk as hell.  Suzy Kolber if you are in the building hide.

2013 NFL Draft

I wanted to do a live blog.  I probably should have researched how to do that, because now I am messing around on here and have no idea what I am doing.  I guess the next best thing to do would be to just post them as I go.

I am taking bets on the following.

Rodger Goodell longest hug - Over/Under 22.5

Hug will be begin at contact and end at separation.

I don't know why this guy feels the need to embrace these guys like they are his long lost child but for some reason he does.

Here was some of his finest work from last year

More posts to come.
